Power Focuser

I modified the MotoFocus controller with a rechargeable 9v battery. The battery is actually a small Li-Po with a built in charging circuit. USB C cord is used to charge. The telescope has a 5v buck convertor installed for small accessory charging.

I decided to motorize the focuser. I bought a used MotoFocus device from some sort of a MAK/CAS scope and 3D printed the needed adapters. I used Fusion 360 to create the motor bracket. I will admit it took a few tried to get the tube to knob centerline distance correct. A plus is the bracket does not need to be fastened down to the tube and is instantly removable if needed.

A small adapter was 3D printed to adapt the motor's drive cup to the focuser knob. It is just a press fit and is easily removed by hand.

Battery Charger

I picked up a small smart charger for the Gel Cell battery that powers the scope. Once the charger was tested, I cut off the end of the cord and installed an Anderson Powerpole. It plugs into the secondary Powerpole socket
