The limit switches on the original MK installation (Z axis shown here) were easily damaged, were not sealed and as a bonus were wired NO which would not allow the machine controller to account for a broken wire or bad switch. The switches were replaced with more robust sealed units and wired NC. Here is the upgraded Z Axis switch.
