Keeping the mount undamaged was my first priority. Having it lay on the floor of the car was inviting disaster and this case was made first.
Overall shot of the empty case. Constructed from 3/4" MDF glued with Gorilla Glue and hardened ring shank trim nails for strength.
Indoor/outdoor carpeting was used for the lining of the fixtures. The fixtures were made from 3/4" plywood.
The mounting in the box.
Here's the case loaded and ready to lug to the car. The handle placement allows me to stand nearly upright and not stress my back because the case hangs down right in front of me with my arms nearly vertical. Rubber feet on the end and the bottom protect the case and make it less likely to slide around on the floor of the car.
