Cambo/Calumet Roll Film Back

UP   HOME

This roll film back has existed in a few forms for what seems like forever...

Mine is a Cambo 6x7 C2N, the Calumet as well as most other versions of this handy device look and operate the same.  Real early versions have a small knob without the crank handle.  Aluminum knobs are older than the black anodized knobs.

The film back look basically the same and come in a variety of formats.  The most common is 6x7, though they are available in 6x9 and 6x12.  I 3D printed and added a film box end holder to remind me of what film is loaded.  In this case Ilford's Delta 400 my favorite B&W film.

Two views of the interior of the Calumet holder, note the Aluminum knob.  The film plate is hinged up toe thread the film leader when loading.  The full roll of film is placed in the lower location and an empty spool placed in the upper.

Here's the holder in my Tachihara in the Horizontal (L) and Vertical (R) orientations.

I conned Dan Stone into making a pouch to hold the roll film holder.  I have one of his cases for the View Camera as well as my two Graflok film holders.  I supplied an accurate side profile I made with my 3D printer and away we went.
